Giving Thanks
If charitable giving is one of your holiday traditions, you can save substantial tax dollars and benefit SCA. Click the links and get the details before year-end.
Make a gift of publicly-traded securities to The Student Conservation Association and potentially save income tax and capital gains tax, too.
A gift of publicly-traded securities could be right for you if:
- You own publicly-traded securities that you have owned for at least one year.
- Some of these securities have increased in value since you bought them.
- Some of these securities may provide you with little or no income.
- You would like to make a gift to The Student Conservation Association.
USE YOUR IRA RETIREMENT PLAN >
You can make an immediate tax-free gift by transferring up to $100,000 directly from your traditional IRA to SCA (other qualified retirement plans such as 401(k)s and 403(b)s are not eligible). You must be at least 70 ½ years old to take advantage of this opportunity.
The benefits of an IRA charitable rollover gift include:
- Satisfying the required minimum distribution.
- Avoiding income tax on IRA withdrawals.
- Supporting the important work of SCA with a tax-free gift.
A charitable gift annuity provides fixed payments to you or others you name for life in exchange for your gift of cash or securities. The new – and higher – annuity rates announced may make this gift a perfect fit for you.
A charitable gift annuity could be right for you if:
- You want to maintain or increase your cash flow, now even more attractive with the new – and higher - annuity rates.
- You want the security of fixed, dependable payments for life.
- You want to save income taxes or capital gains taxes.
- You would like income that is partially tax-free.
- You want to make a generous gift to SCA.
- You are considering a gift amount of $10,000 or more.
- You are at least 65 years of age.
